CABBAGE SAMBAR



INGREDIENTS

CABBAGE-100 GRAMS

TOOR DAL-1 CUP                       



TOMATOES-2 NOS

ONION- 2 NOS

GREEN CHILIES-2 NOS

CURRY LEAVES-1 SPIG

SAMBAR POWDER-5-6 TSP

MUSTARD- 1 TSP

CUMIN SEEDS-1 TSP

TURMERIC POWDER-1 TSP

SALT TO TASTE

OIL FOR COOKING

TAMARIND -GOOSEBERRY SIZED



METHOD-Extract tamarind syrup by soaking tamarind in warm water. Wash and boil shredded cabbage and keep it aside.In a pan heat oil add mustard when it splutters add cumin seeds,add chopped onions,curry leaves,salt when onion turns translucent add slit green chilies,chopped tomatoes saute till tomatoes turn mushy.Add tamarind syrup over this.Boil till the raw smell of the tamarind syrup goes off.Add turmeric powder,steamed toor dhal,add sambar powder and simmer in medium heat and switch off.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
