PEPPER KOZHAMBHU





INGREDIENTS

TOOR DHAL- 5 TSP

URAD DHAL- 3 TSP

CURRY LEAVES- 2 SPRIGS

RED CHILIES- 7 NOS

PEPPER CORNS- 4 TSP

CUMIN SEEDS- 1 TSP

ASAFOETIDA- 1 TSP

TURMERIC POWDER-1/2 TSP

TAMARIND- LEMON SIZED

OIL FOR ROASTING- 2 TSP

SALT ACCORDING TO TASTE



SEASONONG

SESAME OIL- 1 1/2 TBSP

MUSTARD SEEDS- 1 TSP

URAD DHAL- 1 TSP

CURRY LEAVES- 1 SPRIG


PREPARATION

In a pan add oil and roast toor dhal,urad dhal,red chilies,pepper,cumin,asafoetida till the dhals turn golden colour and keep it aside to cool.Then grind the ingredients in a mixer to paste using little water.Soak tamarind in water and extract tamarind syrup.In a pan heat sesame oil add the seasoning over this add tamarind syrup ,salt heat till the raw smell of the tamarind syrup goes.Now add turmeric powder,and the ground paste and cook for 3 minutes and switch off.It will serve 5-6 people.
