SNAKEGOURD MASALA KOOTU




INGREDIENTS

SNAKE GOURD- 2 NOS

MOONG HAL- 1 1/2 TBSP

ONION- 2 NOS

TOMATO- 2 NOS

CHILI POWDER- 1 1/2 TSP

TURMERIC POWDER- 1/2 TSP

CURRY LEAVES- 1 SPRIG

SALT ACCORDING TO TASTE

OIL- 5 TSP

CLOVES- 3 NOS

CINNAMON STICK- 1/2 INCH 1 NO

BAY LEAF- 1 NO

INGREDIENTS TO GRIND

COCONUT GRATED- 1 TBSP



GARLIC CLOVES- 3 NOS







PREPARATION

Wash and chop snake gourd to small pieces.In a pressure cooker take moong dhal and chopped snake gourd and add water salt and steam cook for 4 whistles.In a pan heat 5 tsp oil and add cloves,cinnamon and bay leaf and add chopped onion,salt when the onion turns translucent add chopped tomato and saute till the tomatoes turns mushy.Now add turmeric powder , chili powder add little water to form gravy like consistency now add the steamed  moong dhal and snake gourd and stir for few minutes.At last add the coconut paste and heat for 3 minutes and switch off.
